Making History

"Rosa sat so Martin could walk. Martin walked, so Obama could run. Obama is running so our children can fly."

I'm taking the girls with me to vote on Tuesday. I want them to remember this day.

I just had a visit with an old friend. Celma is 74 and spends her winters in Florida - she's leaving on Friday to make it down in time to cast her vote in a state that really needs her.

Hooray!

So here's my thing - I've been planning to take the boys to vote with me on Tuesday, as well. But I keep hearing that in the city it could take hours - my husband went today to vote early and even that is taking at least an hour. So do I take then when I'll be in line for hours? Is that all they're remember? But - it's historic!

Please advise.

I wish I knew. A mom told me tonight it took her an hour to vote early today. And she's in the sleepy suburbs!

I've got the babysitter all day on Tuesday. I'm hoping she can take the girls to the park while I'm in line and run them back when I get near the finish.

Cindy- you are so strategic! I'm thinking I will let them vote on what to have for dinner and let them stay up late to watch election returns.

(I've brought my boys with me to vote in previous elections, when it's quick.)

I took the boys with me in '04, but this year I voted by mail at the dinner table with the boys. It wasn't quite the same, but still......
Did you take that photo? It's amazing. There's a link on my blog to Friar Tuck's stunning pic - go see it!

Sue - I found the photo on Creative Commons. The photographer is Joe Crimmings out of Des Moines.
